Search engine optimisation (SEO) techniques will not be affected by a new search page discovered on Google, according to an industry commentator.
Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos, made his remarks following a statement by Gizmodo, which showed users how to access a redesigned search page from the main Google website.
But he said that it is unlikely to affect SEO marketing services, since the company is probably just trialling a product on a small number of people.
Mr Cluley pointed out that if Google had wanted to keep the page a secret, then the organisation could have used other techniques to hide it from the wider public, such as restricting internet protocol ranges.
He added: "I very much doubt that they care if some of the tech community have found a way to experience the new interface themselves."
Normally, when the search giant is testing out a new design it will do so on randomly chosen users, continued Mr Cluley.
