Facebook will be linking up with Yahoo! in the first half of next year, by integrating the social networking site’s Connect service into Yahoo! properties.
According to the search engine and email provider’s official search marketing blog, it is hoping to attract more users by forming the partnership.
Among the new features set to appear in 2010 is the ability to see what Facebook friends are doing while on Yahoo! pages.
People will also be able to share content from Yahoo! across to the social media service, which may affect delivery of SEO services by some companies.
"Yahoo!’s goal is to bring together social experiences from across the web and provide one place for people to access information and stay in touch with the people they care about," continued the blog.
A study by comScore showed that 84 per cent of Facebook users will visit Yahoo! for one reason or another, while 52 per cent of people who visit Yahoo! sites have a Facebook account, it added.
This week, founder of the social media site Mark Zuckerberg thanked members for their input in an open letter on the website.
