A new report has indicated that people are engaging with adverts more in terms of clicking through to promotional pages.

Online Advertisements 'Engaging Customers More' The study, carried out for Key Note, showed that the percentage of web users who have clicked on online adverts has risen steadily since 2007, when just 9.2 per cent had done so.

In 2008, this figure increased to 28 per cent and it stood at 31.6 per cent for the past 12 months – news that may please professional SEO services providers.

Keynote pointed out that online advertising took an important and symbolic step in the first half of 2009, when it overtook television as the most popular advertising medium for marketers.

The company commented: "It has taken the internet little more than a decade to become the largest sector of the advertising market in the UK."

Google recently announced that advertising on mobile devices can now be more targeted after it introduced the option for content to be device-specific.
