Yahoo! has claimed that the production of new and original content will give its advertisers further opportunities to engage customers.

Yahoo! Hails Potential Impact of Original Content The announcement appeared in the company’s search marketing blog, where it was also revealed that the firm has entered into a partnership with Electus, which is a new venture with the aim of creating original programming.

Electus is fronted by former co-chair at NBC entertainment Ben Silverman, who has been involved in hit shows such as 30 Rock and The Office.

The Yahoo! team explained that all the new content produced in partnership with Mr Silverman’s company will be a chance for brands to spread their message.

"Despite the targeted programming capabilities available, online publishers and advertisers have yet to take full advantage of the medium in terms of content development," they explained.
