Hitwise, one of the Internet’s leading authorities on web-wide statistics and analytics, released statistics surrounding healthy snacks and the search patterns related to it.

Whilst the subject itself may not be to your taste, it does perfectly highlight the need to not only achieve a high ranking on search engines, but also provide relevant information for when visitors arrive.

48.32% of all related searches – some 284 terms were used in the research – were for ‘healthy snacks’. This will clearly garner a good deal of visitors; however, the most interesting statistic is that the success rate (i.e. searchers finding exactly what they’re looking for) was only 67.88%. That means almost a third of searchers didn’t get what they wanted from the search.

This further highlights the need for thorough analytics and ensuring that your site is fulfilling visitor’s requirements. If you’ve got a high bounce rate, chances are people are finding your site, but not the information or products they need. Use data to your advantage.

If 32% of people aren’t getting what they want for the term ‘healthy snacks’, there’s clearly a gap in the market. Who knows, the same may be true of your keywords too.
